Do you ever feel like you’re on a treadmill when it comes to dinner? Do you feel like you have about five dishes in your repertoire: meaning you eat the same thing week in, week out? Do you wish you could just order in but it’s too expensive and unhealthy to do regularly?
What you need is an arsenal of diversity. You need a dozen or so dishes which are easy to prepare and take little planning.
This pan-fried salmon with soba noodle salad is a great place to start.
There are only a couple of ingredients which you might not have handy. First, mirin is sweet Japanese rice wine. Secondly, soba noodles are Japanese noodles made from buckwheat – very healthy!
So go out and buy a bottle of mirin and start expanding your dinner horizons.
More marvels with mirin...
- Easy beef noodle stir-fry
- Chestnut rice
- Barbecue teriyaki marinade
- Simmered Japanese eggplant
- Deep-fried tofu with mushroom sauce
