Baked Rice Custard

The baked rice custard with vanilla poached plums has a dual personality. On the one hand it's an old fashioned comfort food. On the other hand it's luxurious.

The pudding part of its personality is right at home on a humble 1950's kitchen table while the silky custard and vanilla poached plums luxuriate in the most sophisticated and elegant modern restaurants.

But this dessert is anything but schizophrenic. In spite of its differences, or perhaps because of them, this is a dessert I think you're going to love.
