For centuries, herbs and spices have been not only been used in cooking to enhance the flavor of food but also as natural remedies to a whole host of ailments.

Sprinkling a little extra cinnamon over oatmeal or wholegrain toast may help to reduce Type 2 diabetes, while tumeric has been found to ease indigestion and stomach upsets.

These days we often find that the flavor of our food is enhanced by salt, sugar and fat. Herbs and spices are a healthy way to add interest to the things you're already cooking.
